La
Milpa Field Station lies nestled deep in the forests
of northwestern Belize. In May 1996, the La Milpa Archaeological
Site received international attention with the finding of
a royal Maya tomb which unearthed a male skeleton adorned
with a jeweled necklace.
Facilities
include the charmingly rustic and private thatched-roof
cabanas, a state-of-the-art 'green' dormitory, La Milpa's
Dining Room which serves food three meals daily, and education
center, comprised of a conference / training room and library.
Activities
at La Milpa include Forest Trails and Walks, Birding, Village
Community Visits and Archaeological Research.


Hill
Bank is located on the banks of the New River Lagoon,
and is an important historical site, having served as a
logging camp as far back as the 1700s. During your stay
at Hill Bank, you will learn more about the forested ecosystems
of the Rio Bravo and Programme for Belize's innovative conservation
management practices.
Facilities
include Hill
Bank's Caza Balanza dormitory, which sleeps 30 visitors
and features 100% solar powered energy, composting toilets,
a rain water collection system and a gray water recycling
program.
Activities

Bank include Forest Trails and Walks, Water-based Activities
(night crocodile spotting, river trips), Frog Watches, Rainforest
Research and Forestry Research, the Hill Bank Reforestation
Project, Ranger Patrols and Village Community Visits.
