Rio Bravo Expedition

Rio Bravo Expedition

Day 1: You will be transferred from the Philip Goldson International Airport to the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary. Crooked Tree is the site of the famous Jabiru Stork, as well as many other species of birds and wildlife. (D)

Day 2: An early start today as you tour the village and have a boat ride on the lagoon. In the afternoon, you will continue northwest to the La Milpa Field Station where you will overnight for the next three nights. (BLD)

Day 3: Morning jungle bird walk around the area. The afternoon will include a guided tour of the La Milpa Archaeological Site which is located only three miles from the field station. (BLD)

Day 4: The morning will include a walk on the Mahogany Trail. In the afternoon, you will visit a Mestizo Village and then cool down with a swim. Tonight you will enjoy a fascinating evening of night spotting. (BLD)

Day 5: Today you will depart Rio Bravo in the early morning to visit the Lamanai Archaeological Site. Tour includes a boat cruise up the New River and across the New River Lagoon to the Village of Indian Church, where Lamanai is located. This evening you will return to Belize City for an overnight. (BLD)

Day 6: You will be transferred from hotel to Philip Goldson International Airport. (B)

Rio Bravo and Cayo District

Day 6: Today you will enjoy the beautiful Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve area including the 1,000 foot falls, Rio Frio Caves and the Rio On Swimming Pools. (BLD)

Day 7: Morning nature walk through the Panti Maya Medicinal Trail, followed by a canoe ride down the Macal River. (BLD)
Day 8: Early morning transfer to the Philip Goldson International Airport. (B)

Crooked Tree - Hill Bank and La Milpa

Crooked Tree – Hill Bank and La Milpa

Day 1: You will be transferred from the Philip Goldson International Airport to the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary. Crooked Tree is the site of the famous Jabiru Stork, as well as many other species of birds and wildlife. Overnight at Birds Eye View Lodge. (D)

Day 2: After breakfast, you will explore the lagoon on a leisurely boat cruise to view the different species of birds and wildlife. The afternoon is free to explore the village. Overnight at BEV (BLD)

Day 3: Today you will depart Crooked Tree in the early morning to visit the Lamanai Archaeological Site. Tour includes a boat cruise up the New River and across the New River Lagoon to the Village of Indian Church, where Lamanai is located. In the evening you will be transferred to Hillbank Field by boat via the New River Lagoon. Over night at Hill bank Field Station. (BLD)

Day 4: Following your early birding session and breakfast, your guide will give you a short orientation and a tour of the facilities. The rest of the day is spent exploring the trails or taking a canoe expedition up Ramgoat Creek. After dinner , you will be out on the lagoon again, this time spotlighting for crocodiles. Overnight at Hillbank (BLD)

Day 5: You will be getting off to an early start to visit the Community Baboon Sanctuary in Bermudian Landing. You will see the endangered black howler monkeys in the wild and learn about this unique grassroots conservation initiative. Following a short drive to one of the nearby Creole villages, you will meet and dine with local people who will be happy to chat with you about their relationship with the environment and their views on conservation. You will return to Hillbank in the evening for dinner and overnight. (BLD)

Day 6: After breakfast, you will be transferred to La Milpa Field Station. Enroute, you will visit a Mestizo Village and stop at a nearby lagoon for a picnic lunch and refreshing swim; arriving at La Milpa in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at La Milpa (BLD)

Day 7: The morning will include a walk on the Mahogany Trail. In the afternoon, you will explore other trails on the reserve. Dinner and overnight at La Milpa.(BLD)

Day 8: Morning jungle bird walk around the area. The afternoon will include a guided tour of the La Milpa Archaeological Site which is located only three miles from the field station. (BLD)

Day 9: Today is free to explore on your own and observe Archaeologists conducting their research.(seasonal) Tonight you will enjoy a fascinating evening of night spotting. Overnight at La Milpa.

Day 10: Departure. You will be transferred from La Milpa to The Philip Goldson International Airport.

Only an hour and one-half from Orange Walk Town, the La Milpa Field Station lies nestled in the midst of the forest surrounded by a myriad of trails. Once a strict research station, La Milpa has evolved into a site for visitation, environmental education and archaeology.

Day 6: Transfer to Placencia by road. Enroute visit Cockscomb. O/N Placencia hotel.

Day 7: Tour Red Bank or Monkey River. O/N Placencia.

Day 8: Leisure- snorkeling, visit to Village.

Day 9: Fly home. or Days 6-9 can be at Ambergris Caye.
