Rio Bravo – The group will be transferred from the Philip Goldson International Airport to the La Milpa Field Station, located only three miles from Belize’s third largest Archaeological Site. After a brief orientation to the field station and Programme for Belize, dinner will be served. Optional night spotting.
Rio Bravo – After breakfast, the families will explore the mysteries of the rainforest on a walk of the Mahogany Trail (special interpretation for the children will run simultaneous with the interpretation for adults). After the nature walk, a special children’s Rainforest Mysteries Craft-Making Session will be offered. In this session, the children will have an opportunity to make crafts from rainforest materials, put together a rainforest journal entry, and make paper. The parents can join the craft-making session or can hike another trail or simply relax. After lunch, the families will visit the La Milpa Archaeological Site and then embark on an archaeological dig. After dinner, night spotting will close off the day’s activities.
Rio Bravo – After breakfast, the group will travel to the Mestizo village of August Pine Ridge where they will spend the morning getting a taste of Belizean culture. A special cultural presentation will be made by community members, after which families can join in a pottery-making session. After lunch at the village, the families will enjoy an afternoon of swimming in the Green Lagoon. After dinner, a night walk will close off the day’s activities.
San Ignacio – After breakfast, the group will depart Rio Bravo for San Ignacio. En route to San Ignacio, the group will visit the Belize Zoo and then have lunch at Cheers. After arriving at San Ignacio, the group will have a relaxing, open evening.
San Ignacio – After breakfast, the families will enjoy a morning of horseback riding. In the afternoon, the families will canoe down the scenic Macal River. After dinner, the day’s activities will close off with an exciting hour of Mestizo culture storytelling.
