Tours/Activities
The La Milpa Ecolodge and Research Center has eight trails to explore. These trails are:
Mahogany Trail
The closest trail to the field station and the one that is most visited and toured by our guests.
Medicinal Trail
The medicinal trail begins just off the main road next to the station and exits on the main road about 200 yards from the station.
Our resident naturalist guides are experts at identifying wildlife and plants and discussing environmental topics, the Maya civilization, and history of Belize among others. Also, you are invited to learn about and participate in the conservation work that Programme for Belize does in and around the RBCMA. All guests are strongly recommended to par- take in early morning birding and night walks/ night safari.
EXPLORE LA MILPA:
The La Milpa Eco-Lodge has several trail systems to explore, most of which offer excellent birding opportunities. Most are in walking distance with difficulty levels from easy to difficult.
Tours Include:
La Milpa Archaeological Site Trail, Mahogany Trail, Orchid Trail, Medicinal Trail, Bajo Trail, Lagunita Trail, Chicle Trail, Well Trail, The Dos Hombres trail, Night Walks, Night Drives.
BIRD WATCHING AT LA MILPA:
We are best known for the diversity of birds we have in our location and our guests have come from near and far just for the Birding and it has been worth it each time. La Milpa is home to hundreds of resident bird species and hosts var- ious species of migrant species.
OTHER ACTIVITIES:
Visiting our on-site Education Center and Museum, Enjoy our Gift shop with local crafts from surrounding communities, visiting with our resident crocodile, Bicycle Riding, Visiting a local village, Exploring Lamanai Archaeological Reserve or just stroll around the property taking pictures of the hummingbirds.
